Robert Charles "Charlie" Smith, Jr., born on September 20, 1939, in Laurel Mississippi passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. Charlie was a cherished member of his community and a beloved family man whose legacy will be remembered by many.

Charlie dedicated the first part of his career to education, serving as a high school band director for ten years. His passion for music inspired countless students and invigorated the school community. He later transitioned to a remarkable forty-year tenure with the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, where he was known for his integrity, dedication, and commitment to serving others.

Charlie's impact on those around him extended beyond his professional life. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Smith, and his brother, Glenn Smith (Debbie). He was a proud father to daughters Lisa Bishop (Doug) and Michelle Henderson (Damon), as well as stepfather to Scott Hill (Di Davillas) and Paige Rogers (Joe). His grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life, include Derek S. White, Heather Elliott (Blake), Megan Waddle (Chase), Marcus Smith (Kara), Brett Bishop (Shelby), Callie Henderson, Alex Wilson, Aubrey Herrington, Casey Williams (Micah), Carter Henderson, Daniel Bishop (Cassie), Josh Bishop (Karla), Janet Tucker (Austin), and Lauren Smith (Chris), and Kayla Malech (Ronnie) alongside many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Kimberly Smith Thornhill, whose memory he carried in his heart.

The family would like to invite friends and community members to celebrate Charlie's life and legacy during the visitation on October 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Fairhope, located at 300 S Section St, Fairhope, AL 36532.  He will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family extends their gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Charlie's life, acknowledging the profound love and support he received throughout his years.

Charlie Smith will be greatly missed, but the warmth of his spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
