Ruby Anne Farmer, known affectionately to many as Anne, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Fairhope, Alabama. Born Ruby Anne Holmes on February 21, 1936, in Anniston, Alabama, she lived a life marked by boundless kindness, creativity, and devotion to her family and community.

Anne was fondly remembered for the warmth and generosity that permeated her home. Her legendary homemade popcorn was a cherished treat, eagerly anticipated by all who had the pleasure to enjoy it. Her deep love for animals was evident to anyone who met her furry companions. At one time, she lovingly cared for six dogs and a cat, each one cherished and nurtured—a true reflection of her compassionate spirit.

Known as a woman who always lent a helping hand, Anne’s culinary talents were a gift she shared freely. Whether preparing hearty meals for her family or nourishing those in need, she delighted in bringing people together at her table. Visitors who came to repair something around the house could always expect to be welcomed with plates of her famous homemade fried chicken and exquisite desserts, each prepared with care. Alongside her culinary skills, Anne was an exceptional seamstress, using her talents to craft dresses for missions—a quiet but meaningful expression of her generosity and faith.

Her love for nature flourished alongside her keen eye for beauty. She planted flowers wherever a bare spot was found, transforming spaces with vibrant blooms and creating an environment of peace and joy for those around her.

Ruby Anne’s family was her heart and soul. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Thomas (Jack) Jackson Farmer; her daughter, Pamela Farmer; her parents, Elbert Edmonson Holmes and Lillie Mae Mallows Holmes; and her siblings, Juanita Holmes, Ruth Helen Holmes, and William Lewis Holmes.

She is survived and forever remembered by her loving family: her son, Thomas (Tom) Jackson Farmer, Jr. and his wife Carolyn; her treasured grandchildren, Jessica Lami and her husband Jeremy, Jana Clay and her husband Brandon, and Jarred Azevedo and his wife Katie; as well as her great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jackson, and Harper Lami; Bella and Reese Azevedo; and Milo, Cyrus, and Cullen Clay. Among her many cherished companions was her very special sidekick, Chloey.

Ruby Anne Farmer’s life was one of exceptional compassion, dedication, and love. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her—a shining example of selflessness and grace. Her gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.
