Ruth Lipscomb, a devoted child of and servant for the Lord, peacefully passed away on January 21, 2021 at 62 years of age in her home. Ruth was born on April 6, 1958 to Cedric Eugene and Fleur Norton Bennett. Ruth, whose favorite name was Grandma to her three grandchildren, found joy in every one of God’s creations from every seashell or piece of driftwood she found on the beach to every cool rock her grandchild would bring her. She was also happy rummaging through garage sales and thrift stores for treasures from days of old or toys for her grandchildren and herself to enjoy because no matter how old she was she never lost her childhood sense of wonder and excitement. But most intensely she loved the people in her life with every joule of energy in her being. She took care of kids, dogs, birds, squirrels, geese, and plants, and every life she touched was better off because of her. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Ted Bennett; and brother, Mike Bennett. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Corey and Marshall Lipscomb; three grandchildren, Austin Lipscomb, Kira Lipscomb, and Brandon Mort, and one daughter-in-law Corissa Lipscomb; sister, Becky Stowe; brothers, Ric Bennett (Sandra), Mark Bennett (Aline), Jon Bennett; mother, Fleur Bennett; the father of her sons, James Alan Lipscomb. A memorial service will be at The Dwelling Place in Fairhope Alabama at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10th. If you have any stories, memories, photos, or videos of Ruth you wish to relate, then please contact her son, Corey Lipscomb, at coreylipscomblaw@gmail.com in order to email him the item or story or to set up a time to do so. The family wishes to have as full a picture of her life as possible by which to remember her.
