In Loving Memory of Sandra Lee Brown Bishop
It is with heavy hearts, yet with the joyful hope of eternal life, that we announce the passing of Sandra Lee Brown Bishop, who entered into the loving presence of our Lord and Savior on October 28, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family at home.
Born on January 27, 1936, in Belvidere, Illinois. Sandra moved to Fairhope, Alabama, in 1952. Fairhope became her lifelong home where she built a legacy of faith, family, friendship, and service to her community.
Sandra’s greatest blessings were her three children, Mona (Danny Barfield), Doug (Lisa), and Ross (Terri); her 12 grandchildren; and her soon-to-be 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Clarence, and her parents, Calvin and Dorothy Brown.
Sandra was a proud graduate of Fairhope High School, Class of 1954, where she distinguished herself as salutatorian and the first Homecoming Queen. She also served as drum majorette, participated in numerous clubs, and sang in the choir.
In 1956, Sandra, Clarence, and her father, Calvin, founded B & B Pecan Company, beginning a family business that became part of heir shared legacy and the Fairhope community.
Sandra devoted countless years to serving others and giving back to her community. She served as secretary and treasurer of Aaron Bishop and Sons; secretary and treasurer of the Farmers Club of Barnwell, now known as the Barnwell Community Center; secretary of Barnwell Brooke Cedron Cemetery; and secretary and treasurer of the Barnwell Volunteer Fire Department.
Sandra was also a charter member of the Maids of Jubilee Mardi Gras Organization and Cotillion Society, a member of the Fairhope Business and Professional Women’s Club, and a longtime member of the decoration committee for Thomas Hospital’s Grand Summer Ball.
Faith was the foundation of Sandra’s life. For more than 70 years, she was a faithful and devoted member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, participated in the United Methodist Women’s group, and was a charter member of the 8:30 choir service. One of her greatest joys was singing praises to the Lord alongside her church family, a joy she shared for more than 50 years.
Visitation will be held at Fairhope United Methodist on November 3, 2026, from 2-3 pm.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 3 pm, followed by burial at Memory Gardens in Fairhope, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairhope United Methodist Church Caring Ministries.
