Sandra Gayle Bach, 77, of Fairhope, AL, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, died of complications of Parkinson’s disease on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, with her dogs Gabby and Gordy, her daughter Tonya, her son-in-law Chris, and her husband at her bedside.
Sandy, as she was known, was born to Paul Roberts Jones and Molly Juanita (Bradshaw) Jones on June 17, 1947, at Fort Benning, Georgia, while Paul was serving in the US Army. After her father was discharged from the Army the family moved to Tennessee, where the family grew. Sandy’s brothers Paul Robert “Corky” Jones Jr. was born in 1948 and William Franklin “Chip” Jones in 1950, both in Chattanooga, TN, and some years later the family moved to Detroit, Michigan where brother Rodney Gene Jones was born in 1955. The Jones family’s last big move was to Indianapolis, IN, where sister Suzanne “Susie” Jones (1958) was born.
It was in Indianapolis where Sandy met Alton Gary Beach and the two were married in June of 1965 and set about having a family of their own. Tonya Gayle Beach was born in February 1966 and Jody Allen Beach in September 1967. Sandy and Gary were later divorced, but that didn’t slow her down. She worked, raised her kids, and loved her cars! In her early years she owned a 1967 Pontiac GTO, a 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible, a 1973 Ford Mustang, and a 1974 Chevy Camaro with a manual transmission, the car she owned when she taught her son, Jody, to drive a stick. Well, he taught her!
Sandy later remarried and they had a son, Will.
Sandy was a Deli Manager at Big E’s Grocery for years and later was employed by the Marion County Prosecutors Office in Marion County, Indiana working in the Child Support Division where she stayed for over 20 years, retiring in 2007. Sandy's husband retired and the two moved to New Braunfels, TX, in 2009 where Sandy and her husband enjoyed the Lone Star life. She later moved to Fairhope, AL, where she spent time with her daughter, Tonya, enjoying the sun, sand and surf. And shopping; lots of shopping! Sandy was a red rose that grew where she was planted.
One of Sandy’s passions was caring for dogs. She always loved dogs and had many in her lifetime and would frequently volunteer at the local animal shelter, often bringing home another dog after a day’s work walking, bathing and caring for homeless strays.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Robert Jones, Sr., and Molly Juanita Jones, and brother Rodney Gene Jones; and her ex-husband Alton Gary Beach.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband; her daughter Tonya Gayle Beach-Chambers (Chris), sons Jody Allen Beach (Susan) and Will Bach; brothers Paul Robert “Corky” Jones, Jr. and William Franklin “Chip” Jones (Polly), sister, Suzanne Jones, four grandchildren: grandsons, Douglas Robert and Michael Allen Beach, Thomas William Bach; granddaughter, Emma Katherine Bach, as well as one great granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Weyer.
A celebration of Sandy’s life is planned in Indianapolis and is expected to be held at a date still to be determined.
