In Loving Memory of Sharon Stumpfl

Sharon Stumpfl, 87, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Sharon was born on January 8, 1939, in Gary, Indiana, to Leland Lorentzen and Helen Westphal. She will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the backbone of her family, offering unconditional love, steadfast support, and a comforting, dependable presence to those closest to her.

Sharon spent many years working as an airline hostess for Trans World Airlines (TWA), a career that was a meaningful part of her life.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sharon was a devoted member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church for more than 20 years. She loved the Lord, and her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She found joy in gardening and cross-stitch, hobbies that reflected her patience, creativity, and appreciation for the beauty in the world around her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Stumpfl; her parents, Helen Westphal Lorentzen and Leland Lorentzen; her stepfather, Ivan “Ike” Larson; and her sisters, Ann and Joan.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her daughter, Erin Stumpfl Sawrie; her stepdaughter, Christine Stumpfl; and her son, Edward Stumpfl, and his wife, Michelle. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Anna, Benjamin, and Kolten, and her great-grandson, William Briar.

Sharon’s life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and quiet devotion. Her love, strength, and unwavering presence helped shape the lives of those she held dear. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the faith she cherished will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May she rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord she loved so dearly.
