Steve lived by his strong Christian faith and had a close relationship with God. Family was very important to him, and he partnered with his wife to consistently focus on uplifting and sustaining his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had compassion and love for everyone he met and made lifelong friends that turned into family. He had a sense of humor and joking spirit that was experienced by everyone he came in contact with.

Steve served on the Menard County Fair Board for 35 years. He served as a deacon and later an elder for many years at Petersburg Church of Christ. After moving to Alabama, he was a member of and served at First Fairhope Church. He also was a member of the Menard County Antique Tractor Club, the Alabama Chapter 23 IHC Collectors and South Alabama Antique Tractor and Engine Club.
