Susan Bonin Hebert

Susan Bonin Hebert, aged 81, of Fairhope, Alabama, peacefully passed away on March 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and grace. Born in 1944 in Midland City, Alabama, Susan entered the world with a gentle spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her. While admired for her outer beauty, it was her inner warmth and kindness that truly defined her.

Susan’s life was rich with meaningful moments. She spent years modeling, and was often recognized on the streets of Baton Rouge for modelling fur coats at Goudchaux/Maison Blanche department store. During the 1970s, she proudly owned the Miss Baton Rouge beauty pageant. She and her devoted husband, Gerald Hebert, shared 19 years in Houston, Texas, before settling in Fairhope in 2011, where she built a strong circle of close friends who treasured her presence.

Her family was the center of Susan’s heart. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gerald; her children, Shannon Stamm and Kathryn Casteel (Peter Benanti); and her grandchildren, Thomas Casteel, Mary Casteel Hallisey (Mitchell), Stefani Cliburn (Mitch), and Shannon Trapiss (Kyle). She also cherished Gerald’s daughters Kimberli Burrage and Angela Rothermel (Karl), along with their children Alissa Roberts (Will), Aubrey Bagwell (Hunter), Avery Burrage, Justus Burrage, and W. Connor Bodin. Susan is also survied by her siblings, Denise Bonin Hess (Les) and Patrick Bonin (Sheryle), and her very special niece, Christine Duarte (Robert), as well as many nieces and nephews whom she held dear.

Susan was preceded in death by her sister Kelly Bonin Abbott, her brother Daniel “Danny” Bonin, her son Stephen Michael Stamm, and her beloved parents Homer Robert Bonin and Ella Jean Parker Bonin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Known for her generous heart, warm smile, and boundless kindness, Susan was a beacon of light and quiet grace to all whose lives she touched. Her love was given freely and endlessly, creating an enduring impact that will be forever remembered.

A Requiem Mass to celebrate Susan’s remarkable life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, Alabama. The service will be preceded by a Rosary recitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass. Susan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.
