Susan Ballard Van Landingham

Susan Ballard Van Landingham, born on January 6, 1956, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 69. She was the beloved wife of Paul and mother to Amanda and Emily. She was born in Peoria, IL, spent much of her life in Bartlett and Memphis, TN and was residing in Foley, AL.

She was preceded in death by her mother Sharon “Susie” Seaman (2004) and father Billy T. Ballard (2012). Susan is survived by her husband Paul Van Landingham to whom she was married for 23 years, daughters Amanda Daniel Williamson (Lance) of Murfreesboro, TN and Emily Daniel Shores (Robert) of Memphis, TN. She was known as “Gigi” to three grandchildren, Lucy Belle Williamson (8), Parker Andrew Shores (8) and Lance Bakari Williamson, Jr. “LJ” (3). She also leaves behind her loving stepmother Virginia “Ginny” Ballard or “Gin” as Susan liked to call her, sisters Janie Ballard Frank and Christine Ballard Flockhart of Loveland, CO, Martha Vandenburg McNair of Bartlett, TN and Brenda Ballard Seeger of Germantown, TN as well as 9 nieces and nephews.

Susan and Paul permanently moved to south Alabama in 2007, where they enjoyed boating in the intercoastal waterway, Gulf Coast white sandy beaches and shared a true passion for coastal real estate. Susan was endlessly creative, spending many years in the floral design industry and had a green thumb like no other- with a collection of plants that have thrived for decades. She was always known for her cooking and was recently enjoying perfecting new recipes. She loved nature and found great enjoyment and peace being in the backyard, feeding the birds and deer, talking on the phone with her sisters, daughters and stepmother. Her grandbabies meant the world to her, and she will forever be their “Gigi.”

A private Celebration of Life service to bring together her loved ones will take place at her daughter’s home in Memphis, TN. Rest in peace, our beautiful Susan.
