Sylvia McSwain Foster

Sylvia McSwain Foster of Fairhope, AL passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, July 22, 2023, surrounded by her daughters. Sylvia was a native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School. Sylvia and her family lived in Jackson, MS, for over 40 years, Kosciusko, MS for several years, finally settling back in Crestview, FL, until she and her husband, Van, moved to Fairhope, AL to live with their daughters. Sylvia was a stay-at-home Mother, a master seamstress, and fabulous baker. She shared her talents with the Woman’s Club of Crestview for many years, where she also made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed socializing, shopping with her girlfriends and sister, her cats, and spending time laughing and visiting with her family and friends. She was the last living member of her immediate family and is preceded in death by her parents (William H. & Nora Powell McSwain), brothers James Edward McSwain (Juanita), Thomas Jackson McSwain (Grace), William E McSwain (Lucille), and sister Carolyn McSwain Johnson (Johnny Johnson). Sylvia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Van C. Foster, Jr., daughters Pamela R. Foster, Lisa C. Foster, and Suzanne J. Foster, four grand dogs and cats, and many nieces and nephews. She was much loved and enjoyed by all that knew her and was always good for a silly giggle. A public graveside service will be held on a date to be announced at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 NW Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
