Teresita Ruth Couturie

Teresita Ruth Couturie, a force of nature who built a career in industrial outside sales long before it was common for women in the field, passed away surrounded by her four children on March 4, 2026, at the age of 79. Over the course of her working life, Terri held multiple roles traditionally dominated by men, carving out her place through persistence, grit, and a personality that was impossible to ignore.

She was born in Mobile, Alabama, to Reginald Couturie and Ruth Stapleton Couturie. From there she moved to the Fruit and Nut section of Fairhope, where she could frequently be seen walking her little dog, Dudley.

Terri was absolutely something else. She loved being on a dance floor, loved being on a beach, and loved working in her yard. But first and foremost, she loved being Nene to her grandchildren. Being their Nene was the role she cherished most.

She is survived by her children: Shantelle Schindeler Ros of Pensacola, Florida; Shea Schindeler Sadler of Mobile, Alabama, and her husband, Brad Sadler; Shad Schindeler and his wife, Mary, of Midway, Utah; and Shalice Schindeler Darnell and her husband, Mark, of Jacksonville, Florida.

She was a proud Nene to nine grandchildren: Mackenzie Ros Price (husband Cameron), Sean Allen Ros, Abigail Sadler, Brayden Sadler, Ans Schindeler, Noah Schindeler, Tobi Darnell, Victoria Darnell, and Bryce Darnell.

She is also survived by her brother, Denny Couturie, and his wife, Janey.

Terri leaves behind a family who will remember her spirit, her stubbornness, and so many crazy stories.

A private ceremony will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to The Haven in Fairhope.
