Theresa Mae Kauffman

Theresa Mae Kauffman (nee Fedie), age 83, peacefully passed away in her home in Daphne, AL on Wednesday September 20, 2023. She was born in Durand, WI, on March 6, 1940 and became a straight “A” student at Sacred Heart High School in Lima/Durand, where she graduated Salutatorian in May 1958. She will be remembered and forever cherished by family and friends. Her kindness, wit, laughter and faith continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched. As an adult, Theresa attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, first earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976, followed by a Master’s degree in Economics in 1978. For scholastic attainments she was made a member Phi Beta Kappa and was initiated as a Graduate Member of Omicron Delta Epsilon in recognition of high scholastic achievement in the field of Economics. Theresa’s career path was long and varied. Early on, she worked as a cardiac catheterization technician at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, before moving to Mobile, AL where she became an account executive for Merrill Lynch. In middle age she returned to her educational roots and became a college Professor of Economics; teaching both in classrooms and on-line until her retirement at age 80. Ever a lover and student of both music and nature, she was an accomplished pianist and consummate gardener. Theresa loved equally symphonies and flowers, especially orchids. Late in life she ventured into oil painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donn Kauffman; parents, Hubert and Frances Fedie; and her beloved sister Jessie Abraham. Theresa is survived by her brothers; Don Fedie of Sioux Falls, SD, Arthur Fedie of Altoona, WI, Bernie Fedie of Chaska, MN and her sister Patricia Armstrong; as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and many loving friends. Her enduring love will carry on in them. A service to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date.
