It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Tom Conway. Tom passed away in Gulf Shores, Alabama, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Naples, Italy. A man of steady character and simple pleasures, he was perhaps happiest when the sun was out—whether he was patiently crabbing or spending decades on the baseball diamond.
As a dedicated youth baseball coach for many years, he didn't just teach the game; he mentored generations of players, leaving a lasting legacy on the fields he loved.
He dedicated 25 years to a distinguished career with Bechtel, serving in both corporate offices and in the field. His work took him to communities across the country, including Frederick, Lake Anna, Reston, Aliquippa, Oak Ridge, and Port Arthur, where he was known for his expertise and steady leadership.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karyn; his sons, Matt (daughter-in-law, Rose) and Shaun (partner Nina); and his cherished grandson, Charles, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Conway, and his sisters, Kathy Conway and Patricia Napoli, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Conway.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on March 20th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick, MD. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join a Celebration of Life to share stories and honor his memory at American Legion Post 11, Frederick, MD.
