Vera Annette Montgomery, 80 of Fairhope, AL, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025.
Born on May 19, 1945, in Birmingham, AL, she led a warm, full, and spirited life grounded in family, faith, music, and friends.
Annette was a graduate of The University of Alabama, where she majored in English, proudly played the French horn in the Million Dollar Marching Band, and met the love of her life, William Joseph Montgomery. They were married November 19, 1966, by Dr. George Fuller, at Sixth Street Presbyterian Church. Their love for Alabama football never waned, and friends and family knew that Saturdays were reserved for cheering on the Crimson Tide. Annette’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. She enjoyed spirited book discussions, afternoons on the tennis court, and competitive games of bridge. She also found great joy in attending and singing in the choir at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope. Her voice was a gift to all who heard her sing.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Perry Lee Ackis (Vera Robertson), of Birmingham and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Montgomery Davis (Charles), and her son, William Joseph Montgomery, Jr. (Angela), both of Fairhope, AL.
A service celebrating Annette’s life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with the service following at 11:00am.
