Virginia Mae Shomber, age 90, of Gulf Shores, passed away on May 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on December 17, 1935, to Joseph and Mae Bonham in Jonesville, Virginia. After Virginia graduated from Union City High School, located in Union City, Indiana in 1952, she worked as a data processor for a local corporation.
In 1950, Virginia met her high school sweetheart, Duane and they were married in 1962. Virginia and Duane had their son Christopher Shomber in 1966.
Virginia’s hobbies included golf, gardening, cooking, knitting, and needlepointing. She also enjoyed her five O’clock martini.
Virginia is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mae Bonham Armstrong, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Duane, married for 64 years, son, Chris (Christy), grandsons, Todd (Kristen), Blake and a great grandson, Tate.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00am.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow at Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL. at 2:00pm.
