William "Bill" Clark Carpenter

William "Bill" Carpenter, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, in his Fairhope, Alabama home. He was born on July 3, 1936, in Citronelle, Alabama, and lived a life defined by service, dedication, friendship, and love.

Bill was a devoted husband of 51 years, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was proceeded in death by his parents Willie and Claudia Carpenter and son Johnny Carpenter of Citronelle, AL. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Lorraine Carpenter of Fairhope, AL. He leaves behind his three sons, William "Scott" Carpenter and wife Tammy Carpenter, Anthony Brian Carpenter and wife Marty Carpenter, and Stephen Scott Carpenter and wife Jenifer Elliott Carpenter. He cherished his grandchildren, Jessica Shamp, Rebecca Carpenter, Christian Carpenter, John Anthony Carpenter, Josh Carpenter, Seth Carpenter, Caleb Murphy, William "Cole" Carpenter, Samuel Carpenter, Evelyn "Corinne" Carpenter, and was blessed with great grandchildren, eleven brothers and sisters, and many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Master Chief after a career serving aboard submarines. His years of military service reflected his steadfast character, leadership, and unwavering commitment to those around him.

Following his retirement, Bill embraced life with the same enthusiasm he brought to his career. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, where he cherished the camaraderie of friends, and could often be found at the James P. Nix Center sharing stories and laughter while enjoying a game of pool. He had a gift for making lasting friendships and will be remembered for his quiet strength, sense of humor, and generous spirit.

Bill's legacy of service, integrity, kindness, and love for his family will continue to live on in all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his example and the memories he created will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Fairhope Christian Church at 349 Fairwood Blvd Fairhope, Al 36532 at 11a.m. on August 15, 2026.
