Zachary "Zac" Andrew Openshaw

Zachary (Zac) Andrew Openshaw, age 39 of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on March 5, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with addiction.

While we are heartbroken, we find peace knowing that Zac is no longer struggling with the disease that haunted his daily life. Zac was a bright, caring, and talented person who loved his family.

For years, Zac fought to overcome substance use disorder, showing immense strength and courage. Unfortunately, this disease is as relentless as it is unforgiving. We share this, not out of shame, but to shine a light on the devastating epidemic of addiction and to honor the fight Zac put up.

Zac is survived by his wife Daphne; his son, Jaxen; his stepsons, Jayden and Jordan; his brother Chris; his parents Andy and Jenny Openshaw; and his grandmother, Virginia Burleson.

Zac is now free of pain and suffering and, by the mercy of God, is in the hands of the Lord Jesus. May his memory be eternal.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, at 11:30am. Visitation will begin at 11:00am.

Zac will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens of Fairhope, following the funeral service.
